As we all know, there is always a new social media challenge almost every month. The latest trend involves including your best friend in your workout routine called the squat your dog challenge. Such a clever name don’t you think? The challenge is another way to work out with your dog instead of the same old going for a run or playing fetch.
This challenge doesn’t require any fancy footwork so anyone with a dog can participate. Materials needed: yourself and your dog. Make sure you have treats on hand as a bribe for your pet before you go to lift them. Give them a reason to want to participate in your challenge. Now this isn’t just the regular squat where your hands are in front of you. This is the barbell squat that you will be remixing. Instead of the heavy bar and weights, you’ll just be using your heavy furry friend while going down for your squat. That’s slightly better right?
If you do not want to feel like you have a heavy fur stole wrapped around your neck while working out, you can cradle your dog while you squat. Of course you will most likely receive slobbery wet kisses every time you try to concentrate. Whichever way is easier for you is the one you should do. I personally recommend the heavy fur stole because it will be hardly for your dog to move around and it will be easier on your body. After the workout, you can get your slobbery kisses and your buddy can get their treats. It’s a win win situation.
Squatting your dog doesn’t take long and it gives you bonding time with your dog. This way, working out can be just a little more fun because you’ll be doing it with your best friend.
