This Sunday, April 22 is Earth Day. I know, not many of us know much about what Earth Day is or that there was such a thing as Earth day so let’s give a little history lesson on this holiday.

Earth Day was founded in 1970 by Senator Gaylord Nelson and began as a “national teach-in on the environment” and was held on April 22 to maximize the number of students that could be reached on university campuses. By raising public awareness of pollution, Nelson hoped to bring environmental causes into the national spotlight.

Many of you may be wondering, what does that have to do with us dog parents? Well, there are lots of ways you can celebrate Earth Day with your dog.

Lastly, another great way to help the Earth is to adopt a new dog. Don’t go and buy one from a breeder. There are millions of little beauties who want and need your love.
