Focus and Competition Obedience

Focus Class

Is your dog perfect at home, but can’t pay attention in public or distractions? Are you looking for more fun and challenging skills to build focus and teamwork? Then our Saturday Focus class is for you. Using obedience skills among distractions and around other dogs, the purpose of focus class is to build teamwork between you and your dog. This class will benefit the dog/hander team in any sport who struggle with staying focused on task in new places. Many of our students are preparing for AKC Obedience Titles, but trialing does not have to be your goal to enjoy this class. This is also a great class for anyone interested in AKC Rally Competition. Agility partners will also benefit in building teamwork and a cooperative relationships.

To benefit from this class, the dog and handler must be able to perform basic obedience skills of loose leash walking, short stays, recall, etc. on leash. CGC recommended, but not required. We will be working on off leash skills as the team is ready. If you are unsure about whether your dog is ready, talk to Sue for an evaluation.

Instructor, Sue Bonness, has been competing successfully in AKC Obedience with her dogs since 1975. She welcomes and encourages all newcomers to dog sports! Her emphasis is on building focus and strong relationships through positive experiences. Sue does not believe “Obedience” has to be formal.

If it is all a game to the dog, we achieve the most reliable results.
